Exercises on this page are to accompany lessons in the book "Thai Sound System and Reading Rules". All exercises were developed using MS-Powerpoint. In order to get the sounds and features working properly, the users must view the exercises in "Slide Show" mode.
Exercises in this series focus on tone rules by the three classes of consonant: Middle Class, High Class, and Low Class Consonants.

There are five tones in Thai language. A Thai syllable can be read with a tone evern though there is no tone mark. A tone mark does not always indicate the tone. The following factors indicated a tone in a syllable or word.

4. Loan words or foreign words
